A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly,Stephen Ogundipe has urged Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Tinubu, saying that things would soon get better in the country.

Ogundipe, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Strategy and Security, made this known during his 61st birthday celebration at his residence in Oshodi, Lagos on Tuesday.

Ogundipe, representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I, said even though there was hunger in the land, however, the various policies by the President would yield good results in the long run.

Ogundipe said: “President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Lagos State is a big plus for the state. We all know him very well and we know what he can do and what he cannot do.

“He was very sincere when he spoke with us, he said the people should take it easy with him that he is going to see that this country comes back to shape,so we should bear with him.

“Yes, there is hunger in the land, but we have to go through some pains for things to get better. Nigeria is our country, we have no other place to go and we have the guarantee that things will get better.

“Sincerely there is still hunger in the land and the masses are feeling it but the President is trying to come up with so many other policies to cushion the effects, especially for the masses and he is going to make it happen.

“We want to urge people to give our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), a breathing space because it’s a party that came in with struggle and after that we have so many things to do,” he said.

Ogundipe urged politicians and those at the helms of affairs to take things easy and work in tandem with the situation of things on ground. The lawmaker also called on the rich people in the country to stretch their wealth and let others feel their presence.

According to him, you know if you have one rich man in the midst of 100 people, the person is also poor. The lawmaker said whoever God had blessed should see how he could bless others.

Ogundipe, who used the occasion to thank God for sparing his life, recalled that he celebrated his 60th birthday in 2024, but that his constituency still wanted him to mark it this year.

Also speaking in an interview at the event, a former lawmaker, Mr David Doherty, commended the National Assembly and the State House of Assemblies for making laws to promote good governance.

Doherty, who represented Amuwo-Odofin Constituency 2 at the Lagos Assembly, said members of the House always ensure that whateverlaws and resolutions passed by the House were for the benefit of the people of the state.

He said: “Each legislator has to represent his people well. We make sure that things work out the way we want them to be. I had been there and I see what happens there.“There are issues and expectations, but we ensure that we do what we were sent there to do.”

Doherty, who described Ogundipe as his brother, said he was a reliable and responsible person to all the members of the Assembly.

The APC Chairmanship Candidate, Ejigbo LCDA in Lagos State, Taoreed Taiwo also described Hon Ogundipe as a man of the people, a grassroots person that wants the best for his community and strives for excellence at all times.

On his plans for the people if he wins the election, Taiwo said that the President had given them an order to improve the welfare of the people, improve infrastructure and enhance the security architecture of every neighbourhood.
