Lagos Govt Confirms No Casualties in Ikorodu School Collapse

    The Lagos State Government has confirmed that no casualties were recorded in the classroom block collapse at Odokekere High School, Ikorodu, following public concerns over the incident.

    In an official statement issued by the Special Committee on Rehabilitation of Public Schools (SCRPS), the state government said it received the news of the collapse with shock, while expressing regret over the unfortunate development.

    The reported noted that the the affected bungalow classroom block had already been marked for demolition which was part of the state government's plans to replace aging structures with modern classroom facilities capable of accommodating the school’s large student population.

    Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu thereby directed the immediate relocation of pupils to nearby schools to prevent disruption of academic activities pending the commencement of the construction work.

    The SCRPS further disclosed that a team of its officials would visit the school to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the incident.
