Foundation Launches Maiden Medical Outreach In Lagos

The Women,Elders and Needy (WEN) Foundation, a non-profit organization has launched its maiden medical outreach program in Igando-Ikotun Local council development area (LCDA) .
The outreach, held at ANITOK Estate Community Development Area (CDA), provided residents with free medical checkup, counseling,health talks, free drugs, medical advice and referral and empowerment programs to over 150 beneficiaries.


Founder WEN Foundation, Oloyede Shakirat expressed her gratitude and passion for community service.


She stated that the foundation mission is to deal with the challenges faced by widows, elders, and the needy, including medical care, counseling, empowerment, and educational benefits.


Shakirat highlighted the medical outreach to include; diabetes tests, anti-malaria tests, blood pressure checks, and consultations with doctors and matrons from the state hospital. Free drugs were also provided to those in need.


“We plan to make this outreach a bi-annual event, expanding its reach to other communities in Alimosho and beyond. similarly , my profound gratitude to Rhode hospital,Dé Royal treat pharmacy,Igando-Ikotun Shuba,Lagos Teaching College, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Igando -Ikotun chapter , Almuhminat/TMC, and host to others whose contributions and donation made the outreach a reality.


Co-founder WEN Foundation, Moruf Jimoh emphasized the foundation’s commitment to providing essential services to vulnerable members of society.


He said : “We aim to empower those who still have the capacity to sustain themselves and provide counseling on mental health, age-related matters, and other issues.”


Chairman of ANITOK Estate Community Development Area (CDA), Afolabi Shoyinka, praised the WEN Foundation’s initiative and it’s an anticipated effort in aiding the community.


Mr Shoyinka said : “This medical outreach is a desperate need in our community. I urge everyone to prioritize their health and take advantage of this opportunity.”
A beneficiary, Mrs Uzoma Chidioke, lauded the facilitators for the initiative and free drugs given.


She described the precess as a God-sent, admonishing other organisations to emulate the gesture.


“I pray the lord will give them the support and bless to grow from strength to strength and grow more”,She prayed.


Another beneficiary, Mr Hassan Salam commended the organisers saying “this is something worth emulating by other and not waiting for government to provide everything due to the economy “.


Mr. Salam urged Local government to ensure such outreach is done by its adminstration to help the aged who couldn’t transport themselves to the hospitals or primary health centres.
