Ayoola hails peaceful Lagos LG elections, canvasses supports for Tinubu’s re-election

The outgoing Chairman, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, Mr Fatai Ayoola, has hailed the peaceful conduct of the Saturday’s Local Government elections, urging the incoming chairmen to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Ayoola made the call in an interview with newsmen at the local government secretariat in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) on Saturday conducted Local Government elections into the 57 LGAs and Local Council Development Areas in the state.

The chairman advised the incoming chairmen to sustain Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda when they were sworn in because it would further sell the President’s second term bid, especially at the grassroots level.

Ayoola believed that these decisions would also put Nigeria on the path of sustainable development and make it a giant of Africa.

The chairman cited the President commitment to resuscitating the battered economy and promoting sustainable development across the country.

He highlighted some of the administration’s achievements, including the removal of fuel subsidy, the empowerment of local governments through autonomy, and the tax reform law.

The chairman said: “We, the local government chairmen are the school of thoughts of President Bola Tinubu and we follow his mantra.

“Whatever you see in the Renewed Hope Agenda is a collective hope that we promise the Nigeria populace.

“Hence, Tinubu deserved a re-election for, in less less than two years, having taken steps to offset foreign loans, stabilise the economy, strengthen the Naira, increase states and local governments  allocations.

“Tinubu’s adminstration has curbed herders salvaging off farmlands, killing of farmers and raping of their female family members, as well as his war against kidnappings and insurgency.”

Ayoola commended the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission for conducting a peaceful local government election .

He noted that the exercise went well without any kind of hitches and it was seamless because people turn out to perform their civil rights.

The chairman said he was able to also encouraged security agencies to show compassion in dealing with untruly people who might not want to do the needful by doing the right thing.

According to him, We were able to talk to the youths from the habit of playing football on the day of elections that they have youthful people that are contesting elections.

He said that the council had young men a d women that were less than 35 years contesting elections in various positions – counsellors, chairmanship, vice chairman and the women as well.

Ayoola noted that in his eight years in office, he had performed well considering what he had done in terms of youth emancipation, women empowerment and providing security and protection of lives and properties .

He said others were in the areas of infrastructure development, road connectivity, building of schools and providing primary health care facilities.

Speaking, the Chairman-Elect of the council, Hon. Olalekan Akindipe, aka LampHolder, said the outgoing Chairman has performed excellently well.

Olalakan who is also the APC Chairmanship candidate, promised the students in public schools of free ICT training and would also encourage the youth to participate in governance.

According to him, The world is also going into technology and without it we cant do much in global world because years to come we will be having our external exams on computer based.

“I also have my agenda, I will focus more on youths and students, widows and widowers. We will be training our students in all our public schools in becoming a computer literate.

“I will introduce a one-day chairman just as we have a one-day governor in the state so we can use it to encourage our youths to participate in governance.”

I will also reintroduce the spelling B Competition in the local government so we can encourage them into reading and learning,” he said.

The incoming chairman said he saw a new Ajeromi-Ifelodun two years from now as he planned to reeled out some programme which would surpassed the achievement of the outgoing chairman had done.
