The Executive Chairman, Mushin Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Olarenwaju Bamigboye, has congratulated the 57 APC Chairman-Elect on their victory in the Saturday’s Local Government polls, urging them to actualise the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
Bamigboye made the call in an interview with newsmen at the council secretariat in Mushin, Lagos State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) conducted elections in the 57 councils and 356 wards across the state.
NAN reports that LASIEC on Sunday announced that all the 57 APC candidates won the seats.
Bamigbola said those APC chairmen-elect should implement the eight-point Renewed Hope Agenda to sell President Bola Tinubu to the people of Mushin in his 2027 re-election campaign.
He said that his administration would commission several projects this Thursday, saying that he would continue to provide service-oriented governance to the people of the council until the last day of his administration.
He said: “I want to tell you that my work can really speak for me because I have done a lot of projects in Mushin in the eight years of my administration.
“We have completed 90 roads, constructed public health centres and equipped them with medical equipment, we have constructed and renovated several public schools in Mushin.
“We have done numerous complexes for traders instead of them hawking on the street, we have done a Mushin Radio Station so our voice can be heard and we are glad to tell you that we will be commissioning some of these projects on Thursday
The outgoing chairman urged the 57 chairmen-elect to work very hard, be transparent because one good term deserves another, saying that even though life was not a bed of rosy.
He said: “These APC chairmen-elect should ensure he places their priorities right and their distributing mechanisms for the people at the grassroots must be perfect.
“Otherwise they will have a lot of resources and if they are not careful enough there will be digression.
“They should also listen to their people since they are closer to them to know what they need and not what themselves want.
“This is because the position of the chairman is to serve the people at the grassroots and not a profit oriented venture but a service-oriented.”
The outgoing chairman commended LASIEC for conducting a peaceful, free and fair election, urging them to close the gaps in the subsequent elections.
“Saturday’s Local Government elections conducted by LASIEC went well in the Mushin Local Government, “There was no form of violence, trouble or mayhem in all the seven wards in the council.
“It was a free, fair and peaceful election, people came out to exercise their civil responsibly even though there were low turn out of voters in some areas,” he said.
Bamigboye said he was confident that the incoming chairman of the council would perform better so the people of the area would continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Also speaking, the Chairman-Elect, Mushin Local Government, Mr Tubosun Haruna Aruwe, thanked the people of Mushin for voting for him to represent them, promising not to let them down.
“I have a nine-cardinal programme to do for my people in Mushin and with my team, we will ensure they are fulfilled.
“As a good governance, I will continue to meet with stakeholders in the council to know their needs and place our priorities right,” he assured.
