Ta’awum renames Ta’awum Humanitarian Forum, renews dedication to community services

An NGO, Ta’awum Political Forum has been renamed to Ta’awum Humanitarian Forum, reiterating its commitment in improving humanitarian services like free health services, single digit interest to the people during a stakeholders event at Ojota in Lagos

The President of the forum, Taiwo Lasisi Yussuf, said the significance of the event was to celebrate Nigeria at 65 and also unveiled the new name of the forum which was done not to limit the forum to political activities.

“We are here to unveil the Taiwun Humanitarian Forum which was newly registered and we are also using it to showcase our humanitarian free health programme.

“That is why we put the word humanitarian for the fact that we are humanitarian and not political. Also, another essence of the gathering today is to celebrate Nigeria at 65, our respective impact to the greater Nigeria to this 65th celebration.”

The president said the organisation remained a political and non-partisan but was dedicated to mobilising citizens for Nigeria’s socio-economic progress.

According to him, THF believes Nigeria can overcome her current challenges if citizens cultivate the right mindset, work collectively with government agencies, and embrace civic responsibility.

Yusuf urged collaboration and support from government, organizations, and individuals to strengthen humanitarian services across Lagos State.

Yusuf said the programme for today was in two categories, the first one was the Ta’awum Health Initiative which was a restructure in Ta’awum Forum.

According to him, in the structure, we are here delivering free health service, which is the essence of the programme.

In his speech, Sheikh Dawood imran, the Grand Mufti of Yorubaland and also National President of Jama’at Taawunil Mushimeen, said the programme was about humanitarians and it was part of its programme.

“We want to explain for the people that Islam is about everything. Because the message that came from Allah to Muhammad to us is a comprehensive message that is talking about everything, about our life.

“So a part of our programme are these. We have our political program, our humanitarian charity program, we have a health program, we have as we are doing in headquarters in Iwo, Osun State, they are doing like that in every branch like Lagos, Ogun state and other states.

“So we are showing the people that religion is about everything. So especially Islam and then the humanitarian, we must work on it in order to save the people from the problems and crises that are facing them that are destroying life, families and our social life.

“So we are doing like this program in other branches. We have a cooperative and we have an orphanage home. Every establishment is to serve the people,” he said.

Secretary for Olatunji Abebi CDA and General Secretary/ Vice Chairman of OJOTA Joint CDA, Kosofe, said as one of the pioneers of this organization, and one of the organisers, appreciated this forum in strengthening their helping hand to the vulnerable in the community.
