Anthony Joshua Survives Fatal Lagos–Ibadan Expressway Crash, Two Killed

World-renowned boxer Anthony Joshua has survived a fatal road traffic crash that occurred on Monday, December 29, 2025, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near the Sinoma area of Sagamu, Ogun State.


The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that the crash involved a Lexus Jeep conveying Joshua and a stationary commercial truck. Two persons lost their lives, one sustained injuries, while two others escaped unhurt.


According to FRSC, the incident occurred at about 12:00 noon and was reported promptly, with operatives arriving at the scene within three minutes to carry out rescue operations, evacuate victims, and manage traffic.


Preliminary findings indicate that the Lexus Jeep, suspected to be travelling at excessive speed, lost control during an overtaking manoeuvre and collided with a stationary Sinotruck parked by the roadside.


Anthony Joshua was rescued alive and sustained minor injuries. The injured victim was taken to a medical facility, while the deceased were deposited at Livewell Morgue, Ajaka, Sagamu.


The Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, extended condolences to the families of the deceased and urged motorists to avoid speeding and dangerous overtaking, particularly during the festive travel period.
