The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has expressed deep sadness over the tragic tanker explosion that occurred on the Bida-Agaie road in Niger State on Tuesday.
In a statement, NUPENG National Executive President, Comrade Williams Akporeha, and General Secretary, Comrade Afolabi Olawale, extended their condolences to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago and the people of Essan and Badeggi communities in Katcha Local Government Area.
The incident, which resulted in significant loss of life, injuries, and property damage, has left the union in a state of collective mourning. NUPENG has called for immediate and sustained action to address the deteriorating state of key roadways across the nation.
“We emphasize that this disaster highlights the critical necessity for immediate and sustained action to address the deteriorating state of key roadways across the nation,” the statement read.
NUPENG has reaffirmed its dedication to supporting the Niger State Government and all stakeholders in implementing effective preventive measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The union has also called on all Nigerians to prioritize safety and maintain vigilance, emphasizing that a concerted effort is essential to eradicate these preventable tragedies.
