The Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has commenced the distribution of 200 free General Certificate Examination (GCE) forms to indigent and deserving students across the council as part of their efforts to promote access to education and ease financial pressure on families.

The exercise was carried out under the leadership of the Council Chairman, Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, the Council Manager and the Supervisor for Education and Library Services in attendance.

The initiative is part of the administration’s GLORY Agenda, particularly its focus on youth empowerment and educational development. It is designed to support students who are academically prepared to sit for the examination but may be unable to afford the cost of registration due to financial constraints.

The council said the provision of the forms would help remove a major financial barrier confronting students and parents, particularly amid prevailing economic challenges.

According to the council, the intervention goes beyond the distribution of examination forms, as beneficiaries are also expected to receive guidance and support through the offices of the Supervisor for Education and Library Services and the Special Adviser on Student Affairs.

The support includes assistance with the registration process, while plans are also underway to provide preparatory tutorials to help beneficiaries improve their readiness for the forthcoming examinations.

The council urged beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity by remaining committed to their studies and preparing adequately for the examination.

Parents and guardians of beneficiaries also expressed appreciation to the Aroyewun administration for its intervention in the education sector, describing the initiative as timely and beneficial to families within the council area.
