The Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun has received the official trophy for the AMA Unity Cup ahead of the football tournament scheduled to kick off in August.
The trophy was presented to the chairman on Thursday, July 30, 2026, by a delegation from the AMA Smile Foundation and the AMA Unity Cup Local Organising Committee (LOC) at the Conference Room of the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Secretariat.
The AMA Unity Cup is an initiative of the Member representing Ikorodu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), designed to promote unity, discover football talents and provide meaningful engagement for youths across communities in the constituency.
Receiving the delegation, Aroyewun commended Hon. Abiodun for championing initiatives aimed at youth development, peaceful coexistence and community integration.
He described the tournament as a commendable platform for nurturing emerging football talents, encouraging healthy competition and strengthening relationships among communities within Ikorodu Constituency II.
The chairman also praised Abiodun for what he described as his commitment to the welfare and development of his constituents through impactful and people-centred initiatives.
Aroyewun said sports remained an important avenue for empowering young people and promoting unity at the grassroots, adding that programmes such as the AMA Unity Cup could help provide youths with opportunities to develop their talents while fostering peaceful coexistence.
He thanked the delegation for the visit and reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to partner with individuals and organisations whose programmes promote youth empowerment, grassroots sports development and stronger community cohesion across Igbogbo-Baiyeku and the wider Ikorodu Division.
Those present at the trophy presentation included the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Olowu; Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Qudus Oduntan; Director-General of the AMA Smile Foundation, Mr. Adewale Bolowotan; members of the Executive Cabinet of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA; officials of the AMA Smile Foundation; members of the AMA Unity Cup LOC and delegates from across Ikorodu Constituency II.
