Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA )has extended its free healthcare intervention to Elepe Kingdom with more than 350 residents benefiting from its Optimal Wellness Outreach.
The outreach, held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Methodist Primary School, Elepe provided residents with access to a range of medical services as part of the administration’s efforts to improve healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
Beneficiaries received free medical consultations and treatment from qualified doctors and other health personnel. The programme also featured blood pressure and blood sugar checks, Hepatitis B screening, eye examinations and the distribution of free eyeglasses to residents who required them.
Residents requiring further medical attention were referred to appropriate healthcare facilities for advanced treatment, while health education and wellness counselling were also provided during the exercise.
Speaking at the programme, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Olowu, welcomed residents and commended them for their strong turnout.
The Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Alhaji Qudus Oduntan, recalled the commitment made by the Chairman Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun to the people of Elepe, describing the outreach as a fulfilment of the promise.
Aroyewun, who thanked residents for their continued support for his administration, announced plans to rehabilitate Oba Ijaolu Road in collaboration with the Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Benson.
The chairman also highlighted the reconstruction of the C5 Ward at the Elepe Health Care Centre as one of the administration’s interventions aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure in the community.
Aroyewun urged residents to continue supporting programmes targeted at the development of the LCDA, while warning against drug abuse.
He said the use of hard drugs could cause serious and lasting damage to the body, urging residents, particularly young people, to shun illicit substances.
The chairman also called on residents to remain vigilant and pay close attention to uncompleted buildings within their neighbourhoods.
He urged them to report suspicious activities and movements to the appropriate security authorities to help safeguard their communities.
Residents who participated in the outreach commended the council chairman for bringing free medical services closer to the people, describing the initiative as a practical demonstration of the administration’s commitment to improving the health and welfare of residents.
